Abstraction
• In July 2020 East Java experienced a deflation of 0.29 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, four cities experienced inflation and four cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation in Probolinggo was 0.16 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Surabaya by 0.41 percent.
• Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the decline in some indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.22 percent and the transportation group by 1.05 percent. While the groups experiencing inflation were clothing and footwear by 0.16 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.01 percent, the household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.14 percent, the health group by 0.24 percent, the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent, the education group by 0.15 percent, the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.21 percent, and the personal care and other services group by 1.25 percent. While the recreation, sports and culture groups did not change.
• The inflation rate for the July 2020 calendar year is 0.85 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2020 against July 2019) is 1.50 percent.
