In September 2019, the level of inequality in expenditure by the population of East Java as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.364. This figure is down by 0.006 points when compared to the March 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.370.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2019 was recorded at 0.374, down compared to the March 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.379. While the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2019 was recorded at 0.314, down compared to the March 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.318.
In September 2019, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent population group was 18.43 percent. This means that population expenditure is in the category of low inequality. Likewise, if broken down by region, the expenditure of the population in both urban and rural areas is in the category of low inequality. In urban areas the figure was 17.92 percent, and in rural areas the figure was 20.52 percent.
